On the eve of the most revered and long-awaited holiday of spring, the Resurrection of Christ, Orthodox Christians manually, with the investment of a piece of their soul, make traditional Easter attributes. The bright tradition of creating symbolic unique easter decorations and gifts is still alive.

Decorations and souvenirs for Easter are traditionally associated with the main symbols of this holiday: Easter eggs, dyes, Easter cakes, angels, wreaths, baskets and candles. Creating Easter trappings is a creative and fun process. Painted and painted eggs are the main symbol of the Resurrection of the Lord. According to the Orthodox tradition, it is with them that the breaking of the fast begins before the festive feast. On this day, Orthodox Christians exchange colorful eggs with wishes for good and happiness.

As a souvenir, it can be an excellent present that will remind you of its creator for many years. Spectacular eggs can be easily created from embroidery material. Foam blanks for these purposes are sold in retail outlets with handicraft goods. However, you can make them yourself.

You can take an empty eggshell as a basis for a souvenir, but because of its fragility, you will have to work very carefully with it. Such blanks are greased with glue and wrapped, trying to get a certain pattern. The finished product can be decorated with beads, beads, bugles, buttons, rhinestones or sequins.

Even a beginner will be able to turn foam blanks into a small masterpiece using ordinary sewing pins and sequins.

For this, the workpiece is pre-painted. Then pins with multi-colored heads are stuck into it, after putting on sequins. This method is very simple and convenient in the sense that it is always possible to correct errors in work.

Salty dough is ideal material for Easter favors

Salted dough can be considered an ideal raw material for creating unique handicrafts. After drying, it becomes very hard and can be stored for many years. From this material, you can create original candlesticks, fancy coasters, souvenir crafts in the form of eggs, cakes and extravagant wreaths decorated with leaves and flowers, echoing the festive spring mood.

To prepare salty stucco dough, you will need the following.

To prepare a stucco mass, you need to mix salt with flour and dilute cold water... Knead elastic dough(it is better to use a mixer), gradually introducing vegetable oil into the mixture. A well-mixed mass should be completely homogeneous. It is good to keep the finished material for modeling in the refrigerator for a while, and after that it can already be used for modeling.

You can color the stucco mass even during kneading by adding food coloring, egg paint, beetroot or carrot juice or gouache. And you can paint ready-made figures using the same gouache or spray paint. However, in this case, it is necessary to paint the products only after they are completely dry. There are two options for drying crafts: in the oven (at a temperature of 80C) or on a central heating battery.

You can store the remains of the stucco material for several days in a sealed container in the refrigerator.

Volumetric and flat options for crafts

Modeling a bulky egg will require a base to dry the product faster. For this purpose, you can use empty eggshells, a wad of foil, or plastic inside from a kinder surprise. There is a reason to make blanks in advance so that they have time to dry well. You can also make a stand in advance for a future souvenir.

The finished salted mass must be sculpted on top of the existing base, while forming an egg. This is followed by drying, after which you can apply the desired pattern to the craft, decorate it with stucco figures, beads, feathers, etc. It is advisable to varnish the finished product so that over time the dough does not lose its hardness.

But even a child can handle making a flat one. Moreover, such crafts can decorate not only the house inside, but also hang them in the yard. Modeling flat souvenirs will additionally require the following materials:

  • rolling pin;
  • ruler for measuring the thickness of the rolled layer;
  • mold or stencil;
  • cocktail straw;
  • parchment;
  • twine or ribbons.

Roll out the dough on parchment to a thickness of 5 mm. Next, cut out the blanks of future souvenirs with a mold or stencil. Remove excess material and use cocktail tubes to make holes for the ribbon.

As a decoration for Easter eggs made of salted dough, if desired, you can apply a volumetric pattern using a lace or guipure napkin. You can draw a pattern with a sculpting stick. Or you can mold a volumetric composition from the remains of the stucco material and immediately fix it on the craft. This is left to the discretion and taste of the author of the work.

Dry the finished products and then paint with spray paint, a corrector pen or a brush. You can apply dry glitter over the paint. When the paint is dry, cover with varnish and wait until it is completely dry.

At the end of the work, thread ribbons or colored twine into the holes and hang the finished masterpieces on a homemade Easter tree, on the door, or give them to loved ones.

Stages of execution:

  • the dough is kneaded according to the recipe;
  • sculpting a teapot and eggs;
  • baking salty dough.

The process of making an Easter composition

1. Add salt to cold water. Stir until half of the salt grains dissolve.

2. Put flour, knead the tough dough.

3. The dough is spread on a cutting board, starch is poured on top. Starch is mixed into the dough, it provides elasticity and smoothness of the surface of future products.

4. The dough is divided into three parts, food coloring is added. To distribute the dyes evenly over the dough, first dissolve the paint grains in a few drops of water. Then the concentrated colored liquid is combined with the dough.

5. The dough is wrapped in foil and refrigerated. You can start working in an hour.

6. First, cakes are made. Tight thick cylinders are rolled from the foil, they will become the base of the toy baking. Evenly cover the foil with orange dough, align the edges. You should get cakes of an ideal shape.

7. White dough is used to mold icing sugar, close the top of the cakes with it. Form irregular picturesque "drips" of glaze. Eggs can be sculpted from dough of any color, because in the future they will have to be painted purple-red.

8. To dazzle a teapot, you have to put in more effort. The base is made of foil compressed into a lump. Then the side walls and the lid of the teapot are molded. A rigid frame is needed for the handle and spout. Nails are inserted at different angles into the base of the teapot. They have to pierce the foil and anchor in it. One nail is enough for a spout. The handle is made from two nails. They are inserted in parallel, and the edges are connected with a thin wire that can be bent figuratively.

9. The lid of the teapot is decorated with flowers, leaves, small figurines of birds.

10. To dazzle a flower, you need to roll out a thin strip of dough, and then roll it up in the form of a spiral. You will get a small pretty rose. The flower is placed on the lid of the teapot, then gently pressed in the center with a wooden skewer. The rose will assume an inclined position and firmly anchor on the form. Using a skewer, raise and bend the petals, giving them direction. Instead of a skewer, you can use nail scissors.

11. The figurines are baked in the oven for two hours, the door is not closed completely. The minimum temperature is set.

12. Baked Easter cakes do not need to be painted, they turn out to be very similar to the real one. Easter baked goods... The eggs are painted with acrylics, and a floral ornament is drawn on top with a thin brush.

13. The teapot is covered with a light blue color. A floral subject is chosen for the drawing. The tonal range should be soft pastel.

14. Easter composition will look great on an embroidered napkin.

Where to start

Perhaps it is best to start with the simplest crafts in order to get used to working with salty dough. And this applies not only to children but also to adults. The simplest handicraft made from salt dough for Easter, which does not require any skills at all, is Easter eggs, which can be decorated either in the form of a long garland or each separately.

Example # 1 Easter egg garland

Prepare the salted dough and roll it out in a large layer. Next, we cut out an egg-shaped stencil from the cardboard - we apply it to the rolled dough, and we cut out the molds we need from the dough. At the top of each testicle, make a hole with a pen or pencil. We send the dough to dry.

After the dough has dried, we color it and thread a ribbon through the hole. You can tie a beautiful bow and leave the product like this, or you can tie several testicles into a long garland.

Example # 2: Simple product - basket

You can also try to make a simple basket with testicles. Ideal for learning about sculpting children.

The estimated size of the basket is 15 by 15 cm.The work algorithm is as follows:

  1. We take about 100 gr. dough and form a box of the future basket at our discretion.
  2. You can use an ordinary fork to add texture to the weave. The ornament will not only revive the future product, but also give the optimal shape;
  3. From two pieces of 50 gr. roll up two thin long sausages. Approximate length 14 - 16 cm.
  4. It is necessary to intertwine the blanks with each other and attach the formed handle to the basket body. Moisten the joints with water.
  5. To make testicles, simply roll up smooth balls of similar size.
  6. It is convenient to sculpt leaves and flowers from pieces of 5 by 2 cm. Texture can be applied with the blunt side of a knife or with a fork, depending on the intended type of leaves.
  7. Place the testicles in the basket and add other decorative elements.
  8. When attaching each structural element, it is important to moisten the surface of the dough with water for a better connection.

Example # 3: Angel holding an egg

  1. First, we create a special stencil for the future angel.
  2. Using a stencil, cut out the base of the angel. The thickness of the dough is about 5 mm. All torn or sharp edges that form must be smoothed out by hand.
  3. To be sure of the strength of the future figurine, using toothpicks, you can create the effect of reinforcement. To do this, it is enough to place several toothpicks along the body of the angel, in the direction of the wings and future legs.
  4. Create legs that will look out from the mantle. You can make your fingers a stack.
  5. Now you can start decorating the wings. Wing segments are formed from individual pieces of dough and fixed to the base. Patterns can be formed using a fork, a pen bar, or any other accessories.
  6. The hem of the robe can be made more realistic and voluminous. For this, a tape is formed from a piece of dough and figuratively attached to the base.
  7. The body of an angel should also be voluminous. This effect can be achieved by applying several balls of dough to create a garment for the figurine;
  8. We form sleeves from two pieces of stucco molding. Where the palms should appear, we make a small depression;
  9. For believable brushes, form two "drops" and make fingers with a stack, sculpt them to the grooves in the sleeves.
  10. Roll out the collar cake, create a pattern and attach it to the overall structure.
  11. We form a small Easter egg and "hand" it into the hands of the angel.
  12. We create the head and face absolutely symbolic. The way of life should be appropriate and neat. Reliability fade into the background.
  13. Hair can be created completely believable. for this we use a garlic press.
  14. We send to dry. You can use the battery. Enough 3 hours;
  15. To emphasize the relief, the finished figurine is treated with a solution of coffee. Particular attention should be paid to braid, places with intense ornamentation. The finished figurine can be placed as a decoration on a shelf or on a table.

What is attractive about this craft is the absence of any strict technological rules and conventions. The recipe by which the salted dough will be formed, crafts for Easter, their size, specificity, decor - all this can be created at your discretion, without adhering to particularly strict technology or requirements.

  1. stack or small knife;
  2. a comb to give specific patterns on the dough;
  3. rolling pin;
  4. a pen or pencil (in fact, any object with a rod);
  5. curly fixtures (for cutting cookies, for example);
  6. any stencils where you can make prints (lace, beads, children's toys, ready-made figures of something, etc.).

You can experiment with the composition of the dough, tools, colorful materials, shades and the method of processing stucco molding. Making salt dough Easter crafts with kids is a great alternative computer games or mindlessly watching TV. The activity can become an excellent hobby for the whole family, rallying family members around itself.
