Wash and clean the potatoes. If you use potatoes grown in your garden, you don't even need to peel them, but just wash them very thoroughly from the ground, because, as you know, the most useful substances are in the skin of potatoes. I have store-bought potatoes - so I did not dare to cook with the skin. After you have washed and peeled the potatoes, be sure to dry them from excess water. To do this, I spread it on a paper towel and blot it on top with another paper towel.



Then pour vegetable oil into raw chopped potatoes and add seasoned salt. It is very important to use the “Provencal herbs” seasoning, it is it that gives the unique aroma and taste to the potatoes. For a change, in addition to "Provencal herbs" I use "spring greens" and black ground pepper. You can also add paprika. Mix well.


Peel the onion, cut it into half rings. I warn you right away that the onion will be a little crispy, so if you don't like it, cook without the onion. Without onions, it will also come out very, very tasty.


For cooking, I used a rectangular shape. You can cook this dish on a whole baking sheet, but, accordingly, the amount of ingredients must also be increased. Grease the form with a drop of vegetable oil, lay out our potatoes with butter and spices.


Sprinkle onion half rings on top and place in the preheated oven. We bake for about an hour at a temperature of + 190 ° C.


While our potatoes are baking, grate hard cheese on a medium grater. It is best to use hard cheese that is suitable for baking, otherwise the cheese may not melt, but simply burn.

Whatever one may say, but without potatoes it is boring. From time to time you crave fried potatoes or soft and fluffy mashed potatoes. But there is another alternative, more healthy and no less tasty - baked potatoes in the oven.

The easiest way to bake potatoes is a simple one: the tubers should only be washed, seasoned with salt and pepper and thrown on a baking sheet, cooked until soft. But such a simple and familiar side dish is easy enough to transform if you include a little imagination.

What products are needed for cooking

  • For 1 kilogram of potatoes:

Cooking baked potatoes

  1. Wash the medium potatoes and cut them into wedges. If you want to speed up the cooking process, pre-boil the potatoes for 5 minutes. Drain and drain the potatoes.
  2. Add salt, oil and all the flavors. In addition to cheese, if you are using it, add it 10 minutes before the end of cooking.
  3. Mix thoroughly using a large bowl or large bag.
  4. Grease a baking sheet with oil or use baking paper. Arrange the potatoes in one layer. This will make the potatoes crisp and well baked. If everything does not fit, use several trays.
  5. Bake potatoes in an oven preheated to 220 C for 25-30 minutes. If you have not boiled potatoes, then increase the baking time to 45-50 minutes, once turning the slices over to the other side.

We need very small potatoes, literally 2-3 cm in diameter. Of course, you can take a larger one and then cut it, but this will affect the appearance of the finished dish - after all, whole tubers look much more appetizing than pieces. You can find such small potatoes in the market or, if you overload the potatoes, in the supermarket. As a rule, it is not very popular - after all, it is very inconvenient and long to clean. But in our case, this is not a problem at all - we will not peel the peel, but only thoroughly wash the tubers. Try to choose potatoes without surface damage and approximately the same shape - either round or oblong. If you don't want to doubt how thoroughly you washed the peel, I advise you to use a vegetable brush - then there will definitely be no dirt on the potatoes.





We put well-washed potatoes in a sufficiently deep container. Add salt, a mixture of peppers and Provencal herbs to it.





Pass the garlic through a garlic press and also add to the potatoes.







Sprinkle potatoes with vegetable oil. You can take olive oil, you can take sunflower oil, the main thing is that the oil is refined, odorless.





And thoroughly mix the potatoes with spices, trying to spread them over the entire surface of the potatoes.





Place the potatoes in a baking dish. The mold can be ceramic, glass, silicone, or teflon coated - the main thing is that you enjoy cooking in it. Well, one more requirement is the size of the form. When baked, potatoes with garlic and Provencal herbs should feel free in it, settling in only one layer. Even if there is free space, it is better to have emptiness than crush. It is not necessary to grease the mold with oil in advance - after all, we added vegetable oil to the potatoes along with spices, this will be quite enough.







If your form has a lid, that's great! If not, don't be discouraged. You can use baking foil instead of a lid. Just cover the top tightly with foil in one layer.





We put the dish with potatoes in the oven, preheated to 220-230 degrees. And bake for 20 minutes. After this time, we take out the form, remove the foil (or lid) and carefully turn the potatoes to the other side. Cover the mold again with foil (or a lid) and put it in the oven for 20 minutes.





This time is quite enough for the potatoes to be properly baked until golden brown. Just in case, we check the potatoes for readiness with a toothpick or a wooden skewer - the potatoes should be soft.





Put the potatoes baked in the oven with Provencal herbs and garlic on a plate, decorate with vegetables and herbs and serve immediately.
