Recommendations for choosing fabrics and accessories
For a suit you will need: a striped knitted fabric or a very large vest, synthetic winterizer, shoulder pads - raglan, black knitwear for swimming trunks or ready-made children's shorts, a piece of artificial leather for a belt and wristbands (or ready-made belts with a buckle), a very large buckle, red or blue satin (or any shiny fabric) for the cape, gold brocade for the collar and dense interlining for duplicating it, gold braid for decoration or Christmas tinsel
Work description
1. Sew a jumper to the size of the child, taking as a basis a ready-made pattern or pajamas. If the costume is sewn from a vest, it should not be sewn in, but redrawn. Sew on pieces of any fabric from the seamy side, leaving a small section of the seam open. Sewing points are shown in the diagram with a dotted line. Fill with padding polyester to simulate muscles, sew on shoulder pads.
2. Sew jersey swimming trunks or tuck the legs of the finished shorts to the size of the swimming trunks. Sew the cuffs. Attach two striped jersey trousers to the swimming trunks (or use the cut-off parts of the sleeves). Sew on pieces of any fabric from the seamy side and fill with padding polyester. The sewing line is indicated in the diagram with a dotted line.
3. Sew an artificial leather strip to the buckle. If there is no ready-made buckle, it must be cut out of an aluminum can and wrapped with tape around the sharp edges. It is better not to make a buckle out of cardboard, it will immediately wrinkle. Try on the belt on the child and sew the button to fix the "tail".
4. Cut 4 wristbands (for arms and legs) from pieces of artificial leather. Make a slit at one end, narrow the other end and make two tails. Pass the tails through the slit, wrap around the wrist and tie (see diagram).
5. Make a collar of gold brocade, duplicating it with a dense fleece (to stand). Sew on a satin robe, decorate with braid or New Year's tinsel along the edge.
6. In order to make the costume look bright and effective, a cape with a high collar of red or blue satin with gold trim is sewn. By the way, the tradition of entering the arena in bright capes really existed, it has been preserved to this day among boxers.
7. It is best to wear high autumn boots on your feet, in extreme cases, gym shoes. Sandals, boots, or sneakers are not at all suitable for this look.
Makeup.
I highly recommend making up! In a suit with makeup, the effect will be amazing. All you need to do is draw a curled mustache with a black cosmetic pencil (like Ivan Poddubny's) and comb your hair back using hair gel (or wax).
Note.
For those who do not have enough experience in sewing, we can advise a simpler option: put on a voluminous jumper or turtleneck, duplicated with padding polyester and any knee-length pants.

My son recently had a matinee with a script on a circus theme. Some of the boys were strong men. At first, I had no idea how he would look in this look, he is not at all the same type, but in the end it turned out pretty good, and any mother can make such a suit.

2. I was lucky, I had a ready-made children's vest, if there is none, we take a large one and alter it.
3. We take an old blouse with a sleevem of the same cut as the vest and on its front side we sew or glue a synthetic winterizer in the locations of the chest, biceps-triceps, and shoulders. When all the muscles are built up, we put on a vest on top of this blouse. It turns out as if a blouse with a lining, and inside a synthetic winterizer.
4. We sew a belt. This accessory is essential, it plays the main role in this costume. The belt of my strongman is made of suiting fabric, duplicated with a hard doublerin, fastens with buttons (it is better to do with buttons). A satin plaque with a trident painted with glitter - the emblem of Ukraine. The belt is trimmed with silver brocade braid.
My son really liked the belt :))
5. The bottom is black gym shorts and black socks and gym shoes. Ideally, of course, boots :)
6. Decorate with a little tinsel / rain. Draw a mustache or antennae :))))
Vikusya doesn’t go to the kindergarten yet, I hope I’ll have time to make some bungles before the New Year.
