In childhood, our grandmothers and mothers tried to feed all of us with semolina porridge. Accordingly, having matured, many remained those children who do not like semolina. As befits a good housewife, I have a lot of jars of cereals on my shelf. Semolina is also stored in one of these. Since we eat it badly, one day it was decided to start looking for a recipe where it could be used. Having scrolled through more than one page in the search engine, I stopped at the manna. There were quite a few pie recipes: with milk, kefir, in water, with chocolate, with berries, with spices, yeast, etc. Having tried several options, I want to offer the most delicious one for me. Let's prepare a manna without milk and kefir with cherries.

Probably, there is no such person who, having tried it once, does not want to repeat it again. Manna cherry recipe

We need:

  1. 1 cup semolina
  2. 1 cup of sugar;
  3. 1 glass of water;
  4. 300g cherries;
  5. 1 tsp cinnamon;
  6. 1 tsp baking powder;
  7. 3 tbsp flour, a pinch of salt.

Semolina will be the main ingredient for making our pie. I cannot give any preferences to this or that brand. I buy it too rarely. I'm sure the cake will come out of any kind.

Cherry. Of course, freshly picked berries will be much better than defrosted ones. Unfortunately, 8-9 months a year in Russia you have to use frozen berries in the diet. In addition, using fresh cherries, you will have to independently extract a pit from each berry. Using frozen, you get rid of additional hassle. When choosing, settle for a vacuum product. Packaged cherries will protect you from additional contamination that could get in when buying berries by weight. In addition, the average package of cherries is just 300g. The cherries need to be thawed. Only the berry is used. The juice can be diluted with water and drunk like a compote.


Sugar. As you can see in the photo, I used a little less than a glass of sugar. The amount of sugar can be varied depending on your preference. If you like very sweet cakes, you can add 1.5 cups. If you intend to drink sweet tea with sugar and cake, you can reduce the volume to 0.5 cups.

Water. The volume of water should not be increased or decreased. Decreasing it will make the cake thicker and may not bake. Note that the water can be replaced with cherry juice, but the total volume should be equal to a glass. The recipe for manna with water is an alternative to a pie with the addition of milk or kefir. It is suitable for people who are allergic to lactose or who simply run out of milk at home.

Cinnamon. I don't think this is a required ingredient. It adds extra flavor. For those who don't like cinnamon, you can eliminate it.


Baking powder. Let your pie rise. If there is no bag at home, you can use an old recipe: slaked soda with vinegar. The result will be similar.

Flour. You shouldn't use it a lot. Adding more than 3 tablespoons, manna it will turn out to be heavier and denser.



Salt. I will say right away that it was not in the original recipe. But the salt will allow the sour cherries and sugar to develop more vividly.

Cooking method

Take a deep bowl.

Pour semolina, flour, fill everything with water.




Use a mixer to smooth out the paste. The dough turns out to be quite liquid. If there is no mixer, you can mix everything with a fork. Leave the mixture on 40 minutes... The semolina should swell during this time. It is better to cover the container with a towel so that the top layer does not dry out. After the time has passed, grease the multicooker bowl with butter.



We turn on the baking mode. While the multicooker is warming up, let's do our test. Attention, the dough must be poured into a preheated bowl, so it rises more.

According to the recipe, the dough should be mixed again, add berries, cinnamon, baking powder and salt.





We knead a homogeneous mass.



In 5 minutes after turning on the multicooker, pour the dough.



We leave to bake on 50 minutes... Do not open the lid while baking. Otherwise, air ingress will prevent your manna from rising. At the end of the program, place the cake in a baking dish upside down and leave to bake for another half hour.



Thus, the manna will be baked, as in a real Russian oven.

When the multicooker beeps again about completion, you can safely get out the cake. Cherries may run slightly when chopped. Sprinkle icing sugar on top for beauty.

  • 1 tsp baking powder.

Add baking powder and yolks. Mix everything thoroughly again.

Add flour to a container with whipped egg whites. Mix into a homogeneous mass. We put all the ingredients together.

The dough should be fairly thick.
